ER&L Conference Presentation: Austin, Texas
March, 2019

At this year's ER&L conference I will be joined by some colleagues in presenting strategies, and tips for vendor negotiations. A skill that isn't taught in library school but essential when dealing with small to large budgets where every resource has to stretch just like the dollar. View Video HERE

ILA Conference Presentation
Powering through librarianship
October, 2018

In today's library world, obstacles come and go, but it's always the motto that the library powers on. I'm happy to be part of a panel team that gives insight on many of the issues librarians face today. From budgeting, career decisions, positivism, work load and more. Visit our presentation, Thursday Oct 11 at 3PM.

RAILS Training Webinar
Simple Strategies for Social Media
March, 2017

On March 2nd at 9:30 I offered a webinar through RAILS (Reaching across Illinois Libraries System) on social media strategies for your library. This hour long webinar is archived and can be found on the RAILS website. It offers a quick guide to evaluating, creating and managing social media for a library or any size. Handouts are included, such as a list of resources for managers.

Laconi Technology Board Member
Technology Committee
2017

LACONI’s newest section is devoted specifically to Technology.  This section will offer four continuing education programs per year on the first Thursday of October, December, February and April. Whether you are a tech novice or an IT Manager, you will find programs to fit your needs.  With the current state of continuing education from the systems and State Library, LACONI wants to offer programs that will keep library staff in the know about important technology issues. http://laconi.net/technology/

ALA Learning Round Table
Division of American Library Association
2016

In working with fellow librarians, we are aiming to develop a training program for Supervisors on how to best train staff. This does not limit to just front line staff but also developing new managers as well. We will have a session at ALA Orlando as well as future online sessions throughout the next year or so to help those who train and model employees in a library.

Libraries First
Formally Innovation Experts
2016

Currently working with Innovation Experts. As a board member I represent public libraries, and with this initiative we aim at bringing services to libraries at affordable pricing. This is a wonderful project that gives me the voice to speak for public libraries where funding, staff, and support can be tough to come by.

MyMediaMall Selector Committee
2016

As a team member for MymediaMall I select the Children and Young Adult ebook materials. These materials are part of a shared consortium group of over 20 public libraries. In selecting materials that span so many libraries, I try to get a sense of what circulates at each, but also what would be building blocks for a robust collection that can grow for the libraries as a whole.

Gail's Toolkit
2015 ALA Carnegie Grant Winner

At Gail Borden Library, I was part of a team that won a 2015 ALA Carnegie Whitney Grant for technology. The basis of this award was in recognition for our idea in creating a website that shared instructional content among any library. This would provide instructional content so librarians can share, use and contribute. This project was called Gail's Toolkit. Interested librarians who need instructional content or wanting to contribute, visit the website www.gailstoolkit.com
