About Me

If you haven't noticed by the pictures, I live and breathe Chicago. Born and raised, I am a product of my surroundings. I enjoy street fairs, the city noise, all while embracing the diversity of cultures found here like no other. I graduated from Dominican University in 2014 with a Master's in Library Science. Prior to that I graduated from Northeastern Illinois University where I studied Psychology. Please say hello to the wonderful people on the left of the screen, my mother (Mary) and father (Miguel).

My career:

With almost 20 years of library experience, just about half my life has been working in libraries. I started at Skokie Public Library, out of high school as a shelver. From that point it wasn't long before my position grew and I found myself being a librarian driving the mobile library bookmobile! Yes, I said it, a library bus! Wonderful experience being out and about within the community visiting events, schools and businesses. That community passion drove the desire to learn more and to advance my career and education. Shortly before graduating from DU, I took a position at Gail Borden Public Library (Elgin,IL). In the eContent/Instructional librarian role, I handled all things digital, relating from ebooks and resources to technology. I administered classes and had the wonderful opportunity to engage with the community as well through instruction. During these last few years, I currently still hold a librarian position at Highland Park Public Library. I am there mostly just weekends, helping shape the youth, through instruction and programs. The background of instruction led me to Glencoe Public Library, where as the Head of Digital Services, again I handled all things tech based. From the website to the hardware, training, resources and more. What is great about this is that I get to use my past marketing experience to handle the library's online presence via the website and social media. I'm fortunate to have worked in thriving libraries and continue to use the passion for literacy to fuel current library initiatives.
